A good friend organized a birthday run with friends and I wanted to support her. Barb and Steve have supported me in runs that I have put together, so I wanted to return the favor. Everyone met at Sedgwick County Park. I wanted to get in some extra miles, so I ran there.
I started out at 5:25 to be sure I got there on time. It is a six mile run from my house to the meeting point. When I got there, there was no one there yet. I panicked and tried to call Steve.
After about five minutes people I knew started to show up. I was relieved that I was in the right place after all. We started out around 6:45 and went for a loop west of the park that was around eleven miles. Then when we returned to the park we did two five mile loops and I did my own thing the last two miles or so.
I hung in the back of the pack and a nice gal named Elaine ran with me the whole time. She had a very similar training mind set that I do. We both do most of our training solo. It was nice to hear that I am not weird in that way. From time to time I enjoy a group run with friends, but I in no way prefer it.
I was out of my Infinit nutrition product, so I had a small issue with my right calf tightening up on me. After the run a group of us went to IHOP and enjoyed some good food. When I got home I found my Infinit order I placed this week on my porch. I was a happy camper.
I ended my run with 28.37 miles in 5:00:04.
My first race of the year is next Saturday it is called Rockin' K . There is a marathon and a fifty mile race. I am doing the fifty and Patsy (my wife) is doing the marathon.
